Amy tells all about her Vita-Mix blender

Hi, I’m Amy at the Blue OK. A lot of times people ask me, “What do you use in your kitchen as far as equipment goes?” Or, “Do I need special equipment to make raw food?”

And I wanted to share with you something I can’t live without in my kitchen which is a high speed blender. My choice is the Vitamix 5200. I like it so much we became affiliates with Vitamix which just means if you buy a Vitamix through our website it helps us out here at the Blue OK.

The reason I like the Vitamix so much is because it has a variable speed. Which means you can start out at low and work your way up. That just means you can start to chop things slowly and then, if you want a better blend or creamier, you can amp it up and there’s a turbo speed that will absolutely creamate whatever you put into this blender. And it has a very strong motor so there is really almost nothing that it can’t handle. And I just find that I don’t want to mess around with having to chop something a bunch before I put it into the blender. And this can just handle anything that I throw at it. It’s not an inexpensive blender but it’s worth saving up for because of that feature. It can handle ice; it can handle solid masses; you can put a whole fruit in there and it will blend right up.

So, I love the Vitamix. I know if you try it out you’ll love it too. Because it just works better then any other blender out there. And I’ve tried all the blenders on the market and this is the one I stand by. This is the one we use here at the Cafe. And it comes with the large blender top but you can also order a smaller blender top which some people like better for personal use at home. If you’re not making food for a bunch of people, just a few, you might like the smaller one because you would need to add less ingredients to get it up over the blade for it to mix. It’s just easier to handle, smaller on your counter top. And the other thing it comes with is a dry blade and that handles all dry ingredients. So if you wanted to grind up nuts or seeds or spices you could actually put them in there and it would make your spices ground or it would grind all kinds of dehydrated nuts into flour for you. So that’s a nice feature of the Vitamix — is this dry blade feature.

It also has a plunger top, so if you run into something that isn’t getting drawn down to the bottom through the strong vortex of the blender, which most things do. But if you’re making something that does not have a lot of liquid in it, and your having trouble getting it down, you can use this plunger top which actually comes just above the blade and if you push things down there they get drawn back down there towards the blade and it’s actually tapered so that it also works on the smaller container as well. You just have to have the lid on otherwise it will go down into the blade. So always make sure you have the lid on for that one.

So those are some of the nice features of the Vitamix that I really like. And I just think that it’s the best blender on the market. So, I stand by it here at the Cafe and I hope you enjoy it too. Thanks a lot.
